About

I'm Ritesh Kanchi, a senior at the University of Washington, studying Computer Science with a focus on Human-Computer Interaction and Design. Across my work and research, I focus on Accessibility, Education, and User Interfaces.

Some questions I think about include:

  • How do we preserve/promote designer agency with the rise of Generative AI?
  • How can we create learning environments that are equitable, engaging, and empowering for students?
  • Can we develop intelligent user interfaces to adapt to a user's accessibility needs?

Whether it be work or research, I think that a perspective centered around the synthesis of technology and design is important, and something often overlooked. A consideration of real needs, limitations, and possibilities that creating impactful and meaningful experiences: experiences that change peoples' lives.

In a nutshell, I want to make and do things that give people more time in their day.

It's an extremely easy thing to say, but a very hard thing to do, which is why it's exciting.

A bit more about me

In my (rare) free time, you'll find me binging full TV shows, watching movies, and putting out fires in my kitchen*. If you come by my apartment, I'll probably be cooking something for you to try.

I'm also a sucker for modern art, so you'll find me spending an unhealthy amount of time in museums. (MoMA is a personal favorite.) You'll occasionally find me at a concert or two, but I'm much more of a "blasting music and annoying my neighbors" person.

*Literally. There was a fire in my kitchen, and I had to call 911 and everything.

Somewhat notable things I've done
